I met Louise in college, oh a few years ago (I can’t give away my age). We became friends instantly. Maybe it’s our similar sarcastic sense of humor, or our low tolerance of ignorance, or just because God wanted our paths to cross. I don’t know the reason, but our paths crossed and we became friends.
Louise and I have gone through some ups and downs and friends. We spent several years without contact because it was best for us. Then one day she contacted me via social media and haltingly we began to renew our friendship.
Sometimes friendships experience times where one, the other, or both need a break or a separation. Things happen, with or without good cause, that end friendships. Sometimes friendships can be repaired. Sometimes things happen that create wounds that can never be mended. And sometimes you let things go, renew a friendship, but remain cautious. Hmmm, that’s just life.
So Louise and I decided to renew our friendship. We’ve continued having laughs, even reminiscing about our younger days escapades. We’ve continued supporting each other as women and mothers. We’ve continued growing.
Friendships, like many relationships, will have its ups and downs, hills and valleys. That is ok. That is part of growing, maturing, and adjusting to life. Louise and I have visited many hills and valleys individually and as friends. There comes a time when we have to decide if the hills are more important and more often than the valleys and if you have it in your heart to forgive and move on.
God bless, and be blessed.
