Today one of my employees gave her resignation. I knew she had been looking for a job for a few weeks, but I wasn’t sure she was serious about relocating. As a manager I am saddened to lose an excellent employee. Take away the work relationship and I am so happy to see her follow her heart and make this move.
Life should be about living to the fullest, chasing dreams, being happy, and loving like there’s no tomorrow. Many people don’t have the courage or opportunity to take many chances. Change is scary and fear can paralyze someone. There’s a comfort in status quo and so many people stay within their comfort zone because it’s easy, it’s safe, and it’s home.
So, Denise is following her heart and moving to another state. She’s moving to be with her boyfriend who has decided he wants to pursue bigger opportunities. She’s dating a younger man and he makes her happier than she’s ever been in her life. She wants to make this change because she loves him enough to support his dreams but also because she’s ready to take a chance and see what possibilities are out there for her. It’s not about the boyfriend, he’s a small part of this bigger picture. He’s giving her the courage to take a chance, but she’s the one taking the chance.
I’m proud of Denise for having courage. I’m proud of her for not allowing fear to hold her back. She’s found love. She’s found a reason to step out of her comfort zone. How amazing is that?!
Life is too short, we never have enough time in the day to accomplish all that we want to. But, overall, life is too short. Life is definitely too short to be unhappy.
I hope that we all find the courage to take chances. Even if it’s a small chance, a baby step, take the chance.
Wishing Denise the best as she follows her heart and takes that leap…as she takes her chances.
God bless, and be blessed.
