It’s Memorial Day weekend and the stores are geared up for BBQs and celebrations. But this weekend, the DAY, isn’t simply about a day off from work and barbeques. Memorial Day is about remembering those who died while serving in the Armed Forces. It’s remembering those who gave their lives for our freedom.
Veterans hold a special place in my heart. I grew up in a military family with my father and brothers serving this country. I remember being in grade school and sending care packages to my brothers whether they were in the States or overseas.
What I hope this Memorial Day will bring is not only respect and remembrance for those who have died but also for those veterans that have been changed by their service. Those veterans who have returned from war different people. Those veterans who have suffered losses that are unimaginable. I hope they are also remembered because there are some who can’t escape the nightmare.
Wishing all a peaceful, safe, and dry holiday weekend.
God bless, and be blessed.
